SCHENECTADY – Antonietta Rainone Galvano, 94, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, November 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Antonietta was born and educated in Frasso, Telesino, Province of Benevento, Italy a daughter of the late Frederico and Elisabetta Calvano Rainone. She immigrated to Schenectady in 1958 where she met her husband Michael Galvano. They were united in marriage on August 10, 1958, the beginning of a beautiful life together. She worked preparing daily meals for the resident priests at St. John the Evangelist and St. Anthony's rectory's for 18 years. Antonietta was a gentle, kind and loving woman who cherished her family. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Galvano, on February 20, 1971; a grandson, Jason Battaglia; siblings, Amalia Parricelli, Michael, Renato and Nicola Rainone; brother and sisters-in-law, Lawrence & Molly Dagostino, Louise George, and Mary Hayes.
Antonietta is survived by her loving daughters, Pina Wood and Marie Dolores Redman, both of Schenectady; grandchildren, Jolene (Andy) Riordan, Scott Battaglia, Katrina (Michael) Newhart, Nicole Williams, Danielle Wood and Michael Galvano; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 8:30 am on Tuesday from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St, and then to St. Anthony's Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm.
