SCHENECTADY –Barbara Barry Vergine, 63, entered peacefully into eternal rest after a long illness on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on December 4, 1954 a daughter of Gertrude (Kornacki) Barry and the late Robert Barry. She was a 1972 graduate of Linton High School and worked for the NYS Department of Corrections. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who was very special and kind-hearted. Her days were filled with the joys of being a grandmother and was always the life of the party at family gatherings. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Barbara was predeceased by her father Robert Barry; brother, Mark Barry; brother-in-law, Steve Paolucci and sister-in-law, Cynthia Knapp-Barry.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Larry Vergine, whom she married February 15, 1975; loving children, Tracy Stewart and her husband Casey; and Chad Vergine; adoring grandson, Jeremy Stewart; great-grandchildren Cieuxjeiry (CJ), Jecelia and Catalina Stewart; siblings, Pam Barry, Kathy Hilliard, Chris Barry, Bridget Nero and Paula Paolucci; sister-in-law, MaryAnne Cook and her husband Tony. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held at 10am on Wednesday from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union St., where a Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will be held in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at 1 pm.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
