ROTTERDAM – Jacklyn M. DeThorne, 79, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie was born and educated in Northampton, MA and resided in Florida and Michigan before moving to Albany in 1953. She worked at Grant's Department Store in Albany and for Universal Medical in Malta for 20 years and most importantly a homemaker. She was a most gentle, kind and generous woman whose smile always made you feel at peace. Jackie was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and for the past 13 years volunteered at Baptist Health and Rehabilitation. Jackie was an avid NY Yankee fan.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Raymond and Viola Bosquet Senecal; husband George T. DeThorne whom she married on November 27, 1954 and he died August 3, 2003; a sister Peggy Breault and a daughter-in-law Cindy DeThorne.
Survivors include her loving children; Michael G. DeThorne, of Rotterdam, Timothy T. (Cindy) DeThorne, of Scotia, George (Karen) DeThorne, Jr. ; Maryann M. DeThorne, all of Rotterdam and Raymond R. (Carol) DeThorne, of Schenectady; a sister-in-law Frances DeThorne VanZandt, whom she loved like a sister; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday at 9 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street. Interment will follow in Memory Garden's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 to 8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Baptist Health & Rehabilitation, 297 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
