SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Marjorie E. Ditoro, 88, a longtime resident of 1660 Carrie Street, Schenectady, lovingly and gently entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Marge was born on June 11, 1929, on her parent's farm in the West Glenville hills, the youngest child of the late Alvin and Estelle (Cutbush) Van Natten. She grew up loving school, in a one room schoolhouse, admiring the lights in the city of Schenectady and beyond. She and her five older brothers worked the land her family so loved and at a very young age she developed her strong work ethic and very strong Christian faith that carried her through many difficult years ahead.
Locating to Schenectady with her family, she began her long working career, babysitting and as a "soda jerk" at Whalen's in downtown, contributing to the family income. She met and married her sweetheart, Ralph S. 'Merf' Ditoro, Sr. on July 4, 1948. She worked for E-Z Wash, and managed to make a loving, caring home for her husband, and four children. She later began work at the GE Research & Development Center as a food service provider with Service Systems, Canteen and later Marriott. She retired in 1994.
Marge was ever self-sufficient, strong willed and had an infectious laugh. She was a master knitter and crafter. She was a staunch Roman Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony's Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Merf; cherished daughter, Nancy Ditoro Trolio; devoted brothers, Floyd VanNatten, Everett VanNatten, Chancellor 'Chet' VanNatten Sr., Charles VanNatten, Sr. and Arthur VanNatten.

Marge is survived by her loving children, Stella Ditoro (Tom) and Ralph 'Jay' Ditoro, Jr., of Scottsdale, AZ and David J. Ditoro (Sheila), of Schenectady; adoring grandchildren, Donata (Andrew), Rafaela, Gabriella, Jay Ryan (Courtney), Kyla, Landon and Maria Ditoro; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ryleigh, Jayanah, Arianis, Daniella and a beating heart which is due a day before her birthday; daughter-in-law Doreen Scarchilli Ditoro; a loving sister-in-law, Rosemary Friello. Many dear nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Services will be held Friday morning at 9AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, then to St. Anthony Church, Seward Place where a Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated at 10am. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and Friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 7 pm.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Restoration Fund at St. Anthony's Church, 311 Seward Place, 12305; Daily Bread Food Pantry c/o St Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, 12304 or to Jack's Place, 12 Stonehedge Drive, Gansevoort, 12831.
