SCHENECTADY – Virginia (Jeanie) Bianco Shafer, 78, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at home, surrounded by her adoring family.
Jeanie was born on May 7, 1938, in Scranton, PA, a daughter of the late Anthony and Della Bianco. She located to Schenectady as a young girl and was educated locally. She worked at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, retiring in 2008 after 26 years of dedicated service.
Jeanie touched the hearts of many people and is loved by many, she will be dearly missed. Jeanie loved cooking, garage sales, swimming, bowling, dancing and mostly having her family and friends around her.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Stephanie Vigilone and a son-in-law, Michael P. Rosenberger, Sr.
Jeanie is survived by her loving children, Denise (Gary) Blake, Richard S. Shafer, Jr., Michele Rosenberger, Natalie Shafer, and Patrick J. (Stacy) Shafer; sister, Rose Marie (Michael) Bacchi and brother, Anthony (Sharon) Bianco; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 9am at St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Entombment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
